Project Summary
OBHIZATRIK School is committed to providing free, quality education and essential support to children from underprivileged communities in Bangladesh. The school currently operates two campuses: Mirpur, Dhaka, established in 2013, and Char Lata, Patuakhali, established in 2019.
The school provides children with access to education and a supportive learning environment without tuition fees. In addition to academic education, students receive learning materials, nutritious meals and snacks, basic healthcare, and regular follow-up on their education and well-being.
The school’s operations are largely supported through child sponsorship, making continued donor support essential for its sustainability. A monthly contribution of US$15 can support the education and essential needs of one child, while US$25 provides enhanced support for an orphan child, including additional care according to the child’s needs.
At present, approximately 120 students are receiving sponsorship support, while many other students remain without individual sponsors. Securing additional sponsors is therefore essential to ensure that all children can continue to receive the same quality of educational and wellbeing support.
Solution
The Sponsor a Child’s Education initiative provides an opportunity for individuals and donors to directly contribute to the education and wellbeing of children who may otherwise face barriers to continuing their studies.
Each sponsorship helps provide:
Through sponsorship, children are able to remain in school with greater stability and continue their education without placing additional financial pressure on their families.
The initiative also allows sponsors to contribute directly to a child’s long-term development by helping create opportunities for education, confidence, and a more secure future.
Challenges
Despite the school’s continued efforts, several challenges remain in ensuring sustainable educational support for all students.
These challenges highlight the importance of expanding the sponsorship network and securing regular long-term support for the children.
Future Goal
In the coming months, OBHIZATRIK Foundation aims to expand the Sponsor a Child’s Education initiative and connect more students with individual sponsors.
The key goals are to:
Conclusion
Since its establishment, OBHIZATRIK School has provided educational opportunities to children from underserved communities and has supported approximately 200 students in completing their education. Graduates of the school have gone on to pursue different opportunities, including employment abroad, while one former student also represented youth voices at COP29, demonstrating the potential that access to education can unlock.
Today, the continued sustainability of the school depends significantly on strengthening its sponsorship base and closing the existing funding gap. Sponsoring a child is not simply a financial contribution; it is an investment in a child’s education, wellbeing, confidence, and future. A monthly contribution of US$15 can help keep one child in school, while US$25 can provide enhanced support for an orphan child.
With the continued support of generous sponsors and donors, OBHIZATRIK Foundation hopes to reach more children, strengthen the sustainability of its schools, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
