Action Two Africa (A2A) remains committed to empowering communities by enhancing the capacity of individuals to support their families through comprehensive interventions. These initiatives include providing food, shelter, educational assistance, and improving access to water, sanitation, and hygiene in schools, hospitals, and correctional facilities across Kenya.

Education is a key priority for A2A, with a focus on supporting children who face barriers to accessing quality education. By covering school fees and offering additional resources, A2A helps remove some of these barriers. However, systemic challenges persist. Many girls leave school prematurely due to teenage pregnancies and early marriages, while others face difficulties in subjects such as science and mathematics, limiting their opportunities in technical fields. The cost of education continues to be a significant burden for many families, particularly those experiencing economic hardship, and frequent curriculum changes pose financial and logistical challenges. Additionally, high unemployment rates among educated youth deter others from pursuing further studies, while gaps in policies aimed at fostering education for self-reliance further exacerbate inequities. Teenage pregnancy, particularly in Bungoma County, remains a pressing concern, with implications for health, education, and socioeconomic development.

Despite these challenges, A2A has made meaningful progress in supporting young people to achieve their potential. Currently, A2A is providing assistance to 10 students—four boys and six girls. One remarkable success story is that of Besh W., who joined A2A four years ago after her family experienced significant difficulties. With support from A2A, Besh was able to stay in school and excel in her studies. Last year, she achieved a grade of B on her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, earning her direct admission to university, where she plans to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. Her achievements not only provide hope for her family but also demonstrate the transformative power of access to education.

In addition to its education-focused initiatives, A2A has partnered with WaterStep to improve access to safe water in correctional facilities across Kenya. This collaboration has enabled all 135 prisons in the country to benefit from safe water solutions, contributing to improved health and sanitation for the incarcerated population.
