Sponsor a Kenyan Child's Education

Action Two Africa (A2A) has been strengthening the capacity of youth and families in Bungoma, Kenya, through different interventions that focus on increasing food, shelter, school fees, and scholastic materials.

One key strategy utilized to increase capacity focuses on the Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) Methodology. This informal holisitic savings-led microfinance approach helps famlies  who are part of our Child Sponsorship Program to better manage their existing resources by teaching them basic financial managements skills such as saving, lending, and credit.  

Many caregivers who have used the SILC methodology reported they have been able to start new small businesses such as raising chickens and growing crops on small farms. One of  Action Two Africa's roles to support caregivers is to provide ongoing training and monitor savings groups to ensure their businesses continue to grow. Group meetings also provide a space for caregivers to discuss their childrens' progress at school and talk about ways to better support them. Currently, A2A supports eight children through our Child Sponsorship Program!

Additionally, Action Two Africa recently collaborated with Waterstep International and provided three water tanks to a school in Turkana so they could harvest water. This means that 1800 children will not have to worry about waterborne related diseases while at school.  

Lastly, we are excited to announce that A2A has been diligently working with women in prisons by assisting  them with starting a small businesses once they leave prison.
