Action Two Africa (A2A) has been strengthening the capacity of its beneficiaries through different interventions in the community to support youth within our Child Sponsorship Program; however, the majority of our youth are still facing serious challenges such as high drop-out rates for girls in secondary school due to pregnancy and the practice of early marriage, limited technical skills learned in school which limits job opportunities in emerging job markets, a lack of clear educational policies that empowers youth to seek higher education, frequent changes and revisions of the curriculum in school which is costly and negatively impacts funding that could otherwise be used to support youth, and the increasing spread of HIV that impacts the overall performance of the education sector. Despite these challenges, A2A is continually striving to ensure that all youth in our Program are supported and able to thrive in school.
As we continue to reach out to empower families through income generating activities, A2A has also partnered with Waterstep International, where a group 30 youth in Wabukhonyi Primary School received a bleach maker so that they can improve their sanitization. We plan to continue working with like-minded organizations so that we can support more families in the coming months. Additionally, A2A has educated three prisons and trained them on sanitation practices, and advocated for entrepreneurships and business startups immediately after they exit prison so they can support their families.
Overall, we are working to improve conditions for youth within our community and we are grateful to our partners and our donors, because without all of you, we would not be able to continue the work we are doing!
