The primary function of the COANIQUEM centers in Chile is the rehabilitation treatment of severely burned children from throughout the Americas.
However, another important mission of COANIQUEM in Latin America is the prevention of childhood burns.
A recent prevention campaign won praise and a prize for its innovative use of the children themselves giving tips on how to avoid household burns.
In 2017, 62% of the children treated in COANIQUEM were under the age of five, and the most common age was one year old.
Most burns were suffered in the home, with an adult present.
The videos found on the Link below are used in short television clips and/or in prevention workshops in schools and communities.
Who better to present the message than those children who have suffered?!
