Please see the wonderful message from a burned child who has completed his treatement at the COANIQUEM rehabilitation center in Santiago, Chile.
Mirko fell on some burning ashes when he was 3 years old. He was admitted to COANIQUEM in 2004. He has undergone treatment, including numerous surgeries over the years - and now feels ready to leave COANIQUEM and enter the university to study engineering.
His treatment has been intermittent, with many trips to Chile from his home in Peru, but also many periods of monitored rehabilitation at home. All services - including the transportation from Peru and lodging for him and his mother when in Santiago - have been provided free of charge!
Mirko is an example of the long-term needs of severely burned children.
See the handsome young man and his heartfelt "goodbye" in the attachment.
