Unrest in Chile Affects Burned Chidren and COANIQUEM

By Carolyn Schuetz | Dir/Treasurer

Andre is 4 years old and has been receiving rehabilitation treatment in COANIQUEM Santiago since he suffered severe burns from the family stove 2 years ago.  Because of the disruption of transportation and the dangers in the streets, he has missed his treatments.  He may need special treatment later if his scarring contracts.

All children receive their treatment free of charge at COANIQUEM.   However,  treatment for the many poor children like Andre is subsidized by the government.  Therefore, revenues have fallen as many children miss their treatment.

Furthermore,  some other fund-raising activities have been suspended because of the unrest.

We can not solve Chile's political issues.                     We can hope for a quick and positive solution.

We can also help assure the financial stability of COANIQUEM with our donations.

Please do your part to continue this valuable service for the burned children of Latin America.

Thank you!
