By Carolyn Schuetz | Project Leader
When he was an active child in Santiago, Chile, he ran into the family stove and tipped a pot of hot water on himself. He suffered severe burns on his arms and upper torso.
After emergency treatment at the local hospital, he was referred to COANIQUEM for rehabilitation. He underwent surgery for skin grafts and had physical therapy for five years. He and his family received psychological help over the course of these years. COANIQUEM's holistic approach helps the entire family deal with the long-term treatment of a burned child.
Fast forward 30 years. . . He immigrated to the U.S. and is now a tech professional in California’s Silicon Valley. His company offered COANIQUEM as an option for employee charitable donations. What a coincidence!
He made a significant contribution right away, then signed on for recurring monthly donations. He reported that he remembered the special treatment he received at COANIQUEM, and his mother still reminds him of the thoughtful care for the whole family. They even received some suggestions for improved safety in their home.
This is just one example of the comprehensive care received at COANIQUEM - and the long-term positive effects on their patients. We hope you will continue to support the efforts of COANIQUEM in giving the burned children of the Americas a chance for a real life.
