Update on our Water Technician development

Hey there!
First off, I wanted to say thank you to you all for donating towards this project and for those who donated on Giving Tuesday! We were able to qualify for $2,468 worth of matching funds because of you which almost completes our goal for this project! This is really exciting for us because these funds will go towards paying our Haitian staff for the whole 2024 year as well as providing training and development for them.
Our most recent projects are surrounding the grant we were gifted by Grundfos pumps. We will be installing five new Water House projects in Haiti and our staff will be heading all of those up! The training needed to complete these projects includes learning about a new pump that will be installed. It is a submersible Grundfos pump that we have not used before so we are excited to learn together with our staff about how to use these pumps! That training will be happening this month so that by 2024 our staff are fully ready to do these Water House installs!
We also wanted to update you that we are investing time in each of our staff members to be universally trained. We currently use Venel and Junnot mostly for filter installations and Chelo for our Water House maintenance. We have begun the process of training Venel to be fully equipped to do Water Houses and plan to incorporate Junnot as well in 2024 with the added projects we have going on.
Thank you so much again for your support of this crucial element of our organization. We couldn't do our work without our Haitian staff and that means we also couldn't do our work without you!

Summer update!

Hey there!
We just wanted to let you know whats going on in Haiti this summer.
We are super excited that we have installed 24 new filters this quarter and followed up on several communities. Part of the development of our staff is practicing education, especially when families who have received a filter are having issues or are not using the filter correctly. Junnot identified some filters this month that needed to be cleaned and re-educated family members on safe use. This sometimes happens when many family members live in one household or if the person who was previously in charge of the filter is away at work. We are super proud that we are at a place that our staff can not only identify problems, but also fix them without the help of any of our outside staff or volunteers!
We also have done some maintenance on some of our Water Houses. We had a faulty wiring issue as well as a pump issue and it was really cool to see our staff not only fixing these issues but teaching community guides and other Haitians about our systems and problems that can arise. With Chelo's help, one of his neighbors helped identify the wiring issue while testing the pump at Chelo's compound. We believe this kind of leadership and education for communities and families is exactly why our Haitian staff are so special and so critical to what we do.
Besides that, we are gearing up to do some new Water House projects and excited to engage new communities in similar ways!

Development and Training Update

Hey there!
Just wanted to give you an update on what's happening at Poured Out with our amazing Haitian staff. On our last trip to Haiti in April 2023 we took down more supplies for our staff to complete another Water House all on their own! This one is being installed at a new clinic that Chelo built! Chelo saw a need in this mountain community for basic healthcare and saved up money from working at Poured Out and selling land to build the clinic. He then asked Poured Out to help him get clean water to the area! The Water House is quite the challenge since the water source is over 300 feet from the clinic itself but the team successfully built it all on the training they learned over the last few years!
We have also recently enlisted them in the hard work of finding equipment to install our systems that is easily located in Haiti. We are having increasing challenges with being able to take equipment from the US to Haiti and so we left lists with different parts for them to find ways to install Water Houses completely without the aid of supplies from the US as well. This is a huge undertaking, but one that we fully trust the team is capable of because of their training, competence, and passion for the work. In the midst of many struggles, they continue to serve in amazing ways.
We will keep you updated with all that our staff is up to in the coming months. Thank you for your support of our staff! They really make us work!
