Help dialogue at all levels about refugees in DRC

Exchange meetings bringing together various stakeholders and refugees in Kinshasa –DRC

It is important to remind that the Democratic Republic of Congo has been at war since 1996 up to now and among the causes remain the poor management of refugees. DRC authorities and the entire population remain ignorant about issues around refugees, and in the same way refugees themselves are ignorant about their rights and duties and well as the laws in the country.

We believe that promoting solutions through information sharing and capacity among stakeholders and refugees will mitigate negative perceptions and empower refugees to be proud of who they are and therefore create opportunities for solutions to problems at various levels.

Two information sessions with refugee leaders

The first information took place at our offices and brought together 17 refugee leaders among them 8 women and 9 men, the session focused on how refugees can become actors of social change through various projects and activities in place.

The second brought together 13 refugee leaders and was held at our offices, it focused on the Africa Union Refugee Convention and in particular on community organization among refugees.

We also had stakeholders’ engagement

We are proud to have organized the world refugee day which was the unique activity focusing on refugees in Kinshasa and which witnessed the presence of various stakeholders from Government Institutions, Diplomatic Missions and the Civil Society.  

Public dialogue on Rwandan refugees in DRC

We also organized a public dialogue focusing particularly on the situation of Rwandan refugees in the Democratic Republic and this helped security officers to learn more and share their ideas about refugees.

We still believe in this project as one among our approach to promote pacific coexistence between refugees and host communities and among refugees themselves.
