On the outskirts of Jarabulus, in northern Syria, lives a small family of just three members: the orphaned child Riad, his mother, and his elderly grandfather.

Riad lost his father in one of the attacks that struck their area, when he was still too young to understand what it meant to lose a parent. Since that day, his mother has become his sole support—struggling to provide for him under harsh conditions and with limited means.

They live in a modest home that lacks the most basic necessities of comfort and safety, in an area often overlooked and underserved. His mother is unable to work, as she devotes her time to caring for her aging father and her orphaned son. Their only income comes from small, sporadic aid that is barely enough to survive.
