Summer programming has long been a cornerstone of RC’s work, bringing girls from across Jordan together through sport and play. This summer, despite the challenges of intense heat and a complex regional geopolitical environment, RC ran activities for over 700 girls to connect, build confidence, and have fun in its four hub sites and three outreach communities.
The season kicked off with the second year of summer soccer leagues. The oldest girls from RC’s sites gathered for weekly soccer play days, accumulating both competitive and fair play points. They also had weekly practices to work on their skills, improving their passing, dribbling, and shooting as they built team unity. The season ended with a rousing final tournament, and we crowned three champions: the Flame Team as tournament champions, and the Mafraq Stars and Aura teams as co-champions of the regular season.
While the older girls focused on soccer, over 400 younger participants hit the field for five fun-filled weeks of summer camps in Amman, Mafraq, and Zarqa. With everything from frisbee and soccer to epic water fights, these camps provide an opportunity for girls to get out of their homes during the summer break, be active, see their friends, and make connections with new girls.
RC always works hard to reach new girls and communities. This summer, RC also held three outreach camps in Ramtha, Azraq, and Madaba. Camps take place over four days, providing new communities of girls with a chance to try out RC programming and be introduced to new sports and peers. One outreach site, Madaba, will become RC’s fifth hub site this fall, engaging 100 girls in after school programs and more activities throughout the year.
As August comes to an end, so too does RC’s programming year. The 2025-2026 year brought both meaningful opportunities and significant challenges, as the conflict in the region shaped the environment in which the girls we serve live, learned, and played. Despite these challenges, RC remained committed to creating spaces where girls could come together and experience joy and connection. We are grateful for your support in helping RC continue our work, and we are looking forward to another amazing year!
