Dear Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers and supporters,

We have some very exciting news we want to share! We’re launching Alhassan Academy for Wheelchair Basketball. Our objective is to revive this competitive and amusing sport in Egypt.

According to our research, here are some facts:

  • There are only 6 wheelchair basketball teams in Egypt.
  • The average age of players is 35+.
  • NO male teams below 23.
  • NO female teams at all.

In order to achieve our objective, we prepared a two-year action plan to promote this sport and we took steps in it. We shared infographics on all our social media platforms to raise awareness about this sport and to attract players, with different levels of physical injuries, to join Alhassan Academy. We already started recruiting players – men, women & kids – who are interested in being a part of this team sport. We want to have the FIRST female team and the FIRST youth team for wheelchair basketball in Egypt. We believe we can revive this sport and concerned parties believe so as well given our success record and medals.

There will be some challenges but we are going to face them head-on in order to achieve our objective and we need your support, dear donor, in order to make it happen.

As for our other activities in this project, we’ve suspended all training sessions and arts workshops due to the recent COVID-19 crises and we’ll resume full-power after the crises is over. Our young athletes can’t wait to get back on track and play the sports they love, they share with us some videos of their workouts at home to stay healthy and encourage others to do the same. Click here to watch Hassan doing his daily workout from home.

Stay home Stay safe. Save lives.

We would like to thank every one of you for your support. We urge you to continue supporting our cause and staying loyal donors to our cause through subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option. That will help wheelchair users in Egypt be more confident and accomplished. Please visit our Facebook page to read other success stories:
