For our students the springtime is a difficult time. The pressure that comes with end of year tests requires more and more studying. The kids view this time during the week as an escape a way to relax and just to play. They plan their studying and beg their parents in order not to miss the one day during the week.
The beginning of summer means freedom and we used this freedom for some of our older kids to participate in a sports camp. This camp gave them a chance to try some new sports. From biking to hiking to things like zip lines they kids were encouraged to try something new and push themselves past their fears. As each kid went to try something new those who were afraid found themselves surrounded by others who were cheering them on to try and continue not allowing them to give up.
It was a great show of the sportsmanship and connection that the coaches and teachers have been working to grow over the past year. We are proud to see the kids succeeding and pushing themselves past where they think their boundaries are into new things.
