India is celebrating its biggest festival of lights today on 31st October 2024. Elderly widow mothers living in MaitriGhar Ashram, have been excited last few weeks planning how to celebrate Diwali. Lights, Diyas, Rangoli, clothes, sweets its been a roller coaster ride for them.
The widow mothers day started with getting flowers from the market for decorations. Its rewarding to see , that with the support of our donours we have been able to bring about a change in their behaviour. Counselling for behavior change has taken time and the result is a big reward. A lot of mothers are happy to wear coloured sarees leaving the white aside. All the mothers excted about the festival joinining in the celebration of the Festival of Lights, which they had been told when they lost their husband that they could not celebrate ever. New Coloured sarees, making rangoli, decorating diyas, dancing and singing, all made possible and perfect by YOU, who have become their family and friends. Thank you. Wishing you all a very happy Diwali. Gratitude for making it possible for the mothers to wear new sarees, a feast and a celebration
