TALK & SHARE-useful answers from real experiences

By Na Young | representative/project team leader

1. TALK & SHARE

This year, SHARE launched a new program to provide practical and useful information related to sexual experiences.

This new program, 'Talk & SHARE' aims below;
-providing a safe and joyful space where everyone can talk and share their sexual experiences, questions, and demands
-recognizing different experiences, contexts, and intersectionality related to sexual experiences
-providing practical and useful medical information for SRHR
-enhancement of accessibility to SRHR information

SHARE believes that enhancing accessibility is not just a matter of translation or interpretation. Society refuses to listen to the experiences of minorities, stigmatizes certain sexual experiences, and suppresses substantive information. Because social and sexual minorities experience greater social discrimination and stigma, unspoken experiences are obscured and awareness is limited in society as a whole. So we need to make more spaces and gather the stories so that people recognize them. Further, especially for medical professionals, counselors, translators/interpreters, and intimate groups should have more interest and learn from them.

So, for this project, we invite two panels. One person is who shares their experiences and the other one is who shares information based on medical facts.

We plan to host six talk programs this year.

1st  Wednesday, May 22nd, 7 pm “Sexually Transmitted Infections”
2nd June 26th (Wednesday) 7 pm “Anal Sex”
3rd  Wednesday, July 24th, 7 pm “Menstrual Health”
4th  August 28th (Wednesday) 7 pm “Transition”
5th  September 25th (Wednesday) 7 pm “Uterine Health”
6th  Wednesday, October 23rd, 7 pm “Contraception and Termination of Pregnancy”

We co-host these talk programs with the Korean Deaf LGBT.
The members of the Korean Deaf LGBT participate as panels and provide sign language interpretation. Every time the talk event ends, SHARE makes serial online content and the Korean Deaf LGBT makes its sign language versions.

The first talk program, “Sexually Transmitted Infections” was successful. Participants shared interesting experiences and asked and answered each other in joyful and comfortable moods.

2. Graphic info series for safe abortion

SHARE makes and uploads graphic info cards for safe abortion.
Especially for this year, we gather common questions related to abortion from online communities and provide proper information.
This helps alleviate people's vague concerns and correct misinformation.
SHARE will keep making a series of graphic info cards.
