Happy New Year donors! Thanks for your support throughout the past year. We hope you will continue to support us. Our slogan this year is More Art in 2024!
Last year ended with a bang ! We had a surprise visit in November from a book illustrator all the way from Gibraltar. She wanted to give a workshop at the Youlou Art Centre. It was an encouraging and exciting visit..
Her visit came at a time when we were planning and strategizing for 2024. It gave us energy and confidence to continue our mission. .
So our plans for 2024 are as follows: we will be launching a nationwide art competition for children between the ages of 12 to 18. The launch will take place towards the end of January. There will be a total of 5 winners - first, second, third and two honorable mentions. Prize winners will receive cash. In October, the winners will be announced and their work displayed at the Youlou Art Gallery.
We will continue with our Saturday morning art classes for children between the ages 5 to 12.
Life Drawing classes for adults will also continue on Saturday afternoons.
In March we will celebrate women artists. During this month there will be the annual women's show. The opening reception is slated for Saturday, March 2. This year three women artists have been invited to headline the show. This will be followed by the annual women's craft fair on the  weekend, March 9 & 10.
Plans are being made for the annual visual art programme titled "Growing Young SVG Artists", which takes place July/ August. This two week programme is for children between the ages of 5 to 12.
These are big plans!
Donors please continue to follow and support us we want these plans to come to fruition.
In our next report we will give more details about the 2024 "Growing Young SVG Artists" Programme.
