Timeout4Africa Education and Sports Foundation continues to expose our STEM BOYS to STEM experiences.  In August 2022, Mawo School STEM boy group went on an excursion to Habees Water Bottling Company in Minna, Nigeria.
Habees is a water bottling company, located in the Minna Metropolis, with a capacity of processing about 100,000 bottles of water per day. The STEM Boys saw the water purifying process comprising the use of sand filter, carbon filter, and resin to remove particles and carbon from untreated water. The boys were in awe of the size of water tanks used in this process.
While in the facility, the STEM Boys went to the blowing room where they saw prefab plastic put into a machine and blown into a mold in the shape of the bottle. The process fascinated the STEM Boys and sone of the boys where given the opportiunty to use the machine to produce some bottles. They said they will never forget the experince at the bottling company and they learned about the importance of the water purifying process.
The STEM Boys also visited the production room where the water is further purified using UV light to kill  bacteria. Additionally, the boys observed sachet water packs ( popularly know in Nigeria as pure water)being filled with water. Once this process was complete, the water was ready to be packaged for distribution. The entire process is automated which further ignited the boys love for STEM. John one of the STEM boys on the trip stated, "It was an interesting and educative experience for me and other STEM Boys. We saw for the first time ever, how  water we consume daily undergoes various purification processes to make it safe for drinking and keep us healthy."
At the end of the excursion, the Boys took group photographs with staff of the company expressing thanks for having them and gain such experience. The Boys subsequently had lunch and returned to school.
Thank you very much for your donations. Without your suport, these types of experienes will not be possible. Please continue to support us with a tax deductible donation at www.Timeout4Africa.com and follow us on social media for updates on our activities.
