Dear Supporters,
Since our last report, we have continued our monthly "Story Time with Discussion" sessions at a local elementary school. These sessions provide children with an opportunity to discuss social-emotional topics that may provide insight into root causes of bullying. We have focused on the following topics:
We hope that, by using picture books as a medium, we can address these topics to children aged 7 to 12 in a safe and familiar setting. The books were carefully chosen to help build children's self-esteem, resilience, and confidence.
By encouraging children to recognize their strengths and seek help when needed, we aim to empower them to speak up about bullying, build healthy relationships, and reduce feelings of isolation. Promoting self-worth and emotional awareness also helps foster empathy and respect for others, contributing to the prevention of bullying and the creation of safer, more supportive environments for all children.
We aim to choose picture books translated into English from a variety of languages to expose children to a wider range of perspectives and topics. If you have any suggestions for books that you think would be suitable for our "Story Time with Discussion" sessions, we would be delighted to hear from you!
