Stop LGBTQ Suicide through Parent Education

For years, you've believed in something simple and hard at once: that a parent who knows what to look for can be the difference between a child who struggles alone and a child who is caught in time. Thank you for staying with this project as long as you have.

Since this project began, we've trained almost 700 gatekeepers in QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer.), the gatekeeper model used in suicide prevention programs nationwide. This year, we built on that. On August 31, we launched Empowered Parent Learning, our new education platform for parents raising LGBTQ+ kids, and wove core suicide prevention training directly into the curriculum itself, not a separate class parents have to go find, but part of how we teach them to show up every day.

Mama Dragons has grown steadily these last three years, and we're only getting stronger at this work. That's also why we're making a change: we're moving this project's fundraising off GlobalGiving and onto our own donor platform, Flame Keepers, so more of every dollar goes straight into training parents, and we're winding this project down here.
