Stop Sexual Abuse of Widows Through Dialogue

Thank you for your donation to protect widows from sexual abuse and harmful practices in rural Nigeria. Your support demonstrates your commitment to ending these injustices. However, we must share that the amount raised so far is not enough to begin our work in any community.

At this moment, widows across rural Nigeria continue to face dangerous traditions. Women are being forced to participate in degrading rituals and face sexual exploitation by relatives, all while grieving the loss of their husbands. These practices continue unchallenged because no one has come to these villages to start the conversation about change.

We have prepared materials in local languages and identified communities where these harmful practices are most prevalent. We have trained facilitators who understand the cultural sensitivities involved. But without adequate funding, we cannot travel to these villages, convene the necessary meetings with community leaders, or provide support for widows who need immediate protection.

The consequences of this delay are measured in human suffering. Each week that passes means more widows are subjected to abuse that could be prevented through education and community dialogue.

We are asking for your help to make this vital work possible. Your contribution will allow us to reach remote villages, conduct dialogues in local languages, and provide a voice for widows who currently have none.
