Respected Donor !
Warm Greetings from RSKS India Family ......
Child marriage is often the result of entrenched gender inequality, Child marriage is also the result of the interplay of economic and social forces. Poverty, insecurity, social norms, low value accorded to girls, lack of access to education and patriarchal systems are some of the main causes of child marriage. Child marriage violates children’s rights and places them at high risk of violence, exploitation, and abuse. Child marriage also negatively affects the economy and leads to an intergenerational cycle of poverty. Girls and boys married as children more likely lack the skills, knowledge and job prospects needed to lift their families out of poverty and contribute to their country’s social and economic growth. Child brides are more likely to become pregnant before they physically mature to bear children, increasing risks of both maternal and newborn deaths and morbidity.
An innovative and transformative grassroots solution to prevent child exploitation was found out by RSKS India to tackle this severe issue. RSKS India organized "My Childhood - My Rights" campaign. In this campaign, Poster competition, signature campaign, road rally, discussion, etc were organized with school children on the topic of End Child marriage. This campaign was done with 2100 children of 42 different rural schools. This program was done with the valuable support of donor. In this program, first the RSKS Team explained all the children about the adverse effects of the Child Marriage and its reasons and then all the children were given drawing sheets and sketch colours by the RSKS team to draw their thoughts on END Child marriage. After this the winners were selected and were given awards. During this period the other children as well as teachers signed and took oath to end child marriage in their area through the signature campaign and at last the school students did a public rally in their own village to send a concrete message in the village against child marriage.
This program not only developed the thinking of these children but it also imparted the knowledge of End Child Marriage in their mind. This program gave a concrete message of End Child marriage to thousands of rural village students and people and this message would be spread to thousands of more people through these people. Children were able to understand about the child marriage in a more detailed way through different activities conducted by RSKS India. The school administration & local villagers also liked these programs and welcomed RSKS India to come to impart this useful knowledge of End child marriage to different generations. The children are the future of these areas so if they are alert about child marriage now then surely better results will be achieved in future. The "My Childhood- My Rights" campaign was welcomed by the village people too and everyone thanked RSKS India as well donors for spreading awareness in their village.
Once again thank you so much for your valuable Support.
Many Regards
