Respected Donor Namaste!!
Greetings from RSKS India........
Sexual and reproductive health education is crucial for promoting healthy behavior and reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancies, and gender-based violence. However, in many rural areas of India, access to such information is limited due to a lack of resources and social stigmas. Girls, in particular, face many challenges related to their sexual and reproductive health due to the patriarchal society and limited awareness about menstrual hygiene management. The lack of access to sanitary products further exacerbates the situation, leading to absenteeism and dropouts from schools.
In response to this issue, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India), organized sexual and reproductive health awareness workshops at 20 different rural schools at Ajmer, Rajasthan. More than 500 girl children participated in these workshops, where RSKS India team members provided information about menstrual hygiene management, safe sex practices, and how to access healthcare services. In addition, sanitary napkins were distributed to the school girls at the end of each workshop. The workshops were conducted in a safe and confidential environment, enabling the girls to ask questions and seek advice about their reproductive health.
The sexual and reproductive health awareness workshops organized by RSKS India had a significant impact on the girls' lives. The workshops provided valuable information that enabled the girls to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and break the social stigmas around menstruation. The distribution of sanitary napkins has also helped in reducing absenteeism and dropouts from schools. It has empowered the girls to continue their education and pursue their goals. Moreover, the workshops have also created a ripple effect, with many girls sharing their newfound knowledge with their friends and family. RSKS India's initiative has contributed to improving the health and wellbeing of rural girls in Ajmer and has set a positive precedent for others to follow.
