In the rural communities, gender-based discrimination remained a persistent challenge. Deep-rooted conservative mindsets and traditional norms often perpetuated an environment where such violence could thrive. Recognizing the urgent need to address this issue, RSKS India identified a lack of awareness and understanding as a significant barrier to combating gender-based violence in these communities. To effectively challenge and transform these deep-seated attitudes, RSKS India aimed to implement a solution that would not only raise awareness but also actively involve the community in driving change.
RSKS India planned for an effective solution in the form of the "Humari Awaz" Campaign, a comprehensive initiative centered around awareness rallies conducted by 1750 children from 35 different rural schools. The campaign strategically utilized the collective power of children to send a strong message against gender-based violence. The awareness rallies, organized as road marches, aimed to reach every corner of the rural community, acting as a visible and impactful stand against violence. By actively involving children and schools in this initiative, RSKS India sought to instigate a shift in the conservative mindset prevalent in these areas.
The Humari Awaz Campaign, with its emphasis on engaging children in awareness rallies, had a profound impact on the targeted rural communities. The 1750 children became ambassadors of change, carrying the message against gender-based discrimination to every doorstep. The visibility of the road rallies ensured that the message reached even the most remote areas, challenging conservative beliefs and promoting a culture of respect and equality. The active participation of school administrations and children not only contributed to the success of the campaign but also played a crucial role in shifting community perceptions.
