Dear Patron Namaste!
A Warm Greeting from RSKS India.......
Children living in slum and street environments often face heightened vulnerability to abuse and exploitation due to their living conditions. Lack of awareness and education about personal boundaries, especially regarding good and bad touches, exposes them to potential dangers. Many of these children are unaware of what constitutes inappropriate touching, making them susceptible to abuse. Additionally, cultural taboos and limited resources in these areas contribute to a lack of discourse on such sensitive topics. Recognizing the urgent need to address this vulnerability and empower these children with knowledge, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan initiated the SPARSH Program.
To tackle the pressing issue of child vulnerability to abuse and exploitation, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan implemented the SPARSH Program. This initiative aimed to educate 390 children from 12 different slum and street locations about the concepts of Good Touch and Bad Touch. The program utilized interactive methods such as flipcharts and models to visually and engagingly explain the different types of touches and appropriate responses when faced with uncomfortable situations. The sessions were designed to be interactive, allowing children to ask questions and seek clarification from the RSKS Team members. The team addressed queries sensitively, creating an environment where children felt comfortable discussing the topic. The program not only provided knowledge but also empowered the children with the tools to recognize and respond to inappropriate touches, thereby enhancing their personal safety. As an additional positive reinforcement, all participating children were provided with snacks and refreshments at the end of the program, creating a positive and supportive conclusion to the educational session.
The SPARSH Program by Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan has made a significant impact on the lives of 390 children from 12 different slum and street locations. By imparting knowledge about Good Touch and Bad Touch, the program has empowered these children with essential information to protect themselves from potential abuse and exploitation. The interactive nature of the program allowed children to actively participate, ask questions, and seek guidance from the RSKS Team members, creating an open dialogue about a sensitive subject. Parents of the slum and street children appreciated the SPARSH Program for addressing a critical aspect of their children's safety that is often overlooked.
