In the heart of Rajasthan’s villages, where traditions often speak louder than laws, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (RSKS India) ignited a quiet yet powerful movement through “My Responsibility”, a 16 day campaign against gender based violence across 15 villages. This was more than awareness it was a collective awakening. Over 750 people participated directly, while more than 3,500 community members were reached indirectly, transforming silence into dialogue through road shows, candle marches, public rallies, and signature campaigns that encouraged communities to take ownership of change.
The soul of the campaign lived in RSKS’s young Peer Leader girls, who emerged as confident voices of reform. Through impactful street plays, they challenged deep rooted mindsets by promoting positive fatherhood, respect, and equality within families. Their performances sparked reflection, empathy, and hope showing that transformation begins at home and grows through understanding, not fear.
One of the most emotional moments unfolded in homes welcoming newborn baby girls. Breaking long standing social norms, the Peer Leaders celebrated these births with dhol beats and thali claps, garlanding both mother and child. What was once a subdued moment became a public celebration of dignity and pride, sending a strong message that every girl’s life is valuable and worthy of honor.
The campaign culminated in meaningful civic action as the young Peer Leaders approached Gram Panchayat offices, submitting memorandums to village heads demanding concrete steps toward ensuring gender equality. As the 16 days concluded, “My Responsibility” evolved from a campaign into a movement where awareness met celebration, voices met governance, and villages took a collective pledge to protect, respect, and empower women and girls.
