We have been getting your valuable generous support through GlobalGiving and we are thankful to you from the core of our heart.
Today, women have to face violent activities in many forms as beating, disgrace, threatening, sexual harassment, etc. Then to, we don't get any information about such happenings most of the time as these victim women hesitate, jitter and scared of discussing what happens to them. The major reason behind it is that most of the women are not aware of their legal rights and they are uneducated as well.
Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan organized an awareness program to prevent violence against women. The awareness program was held at distinct villages in Pisangan Samiti with the financial support of GlobalGiving Foundation and the donors. A workshop for held in the awareness program in seven villages to make women aware of their legal rights and power. Similarly, Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan delivered message to prevent child marriage and dowry system by four street shows and puppet shows. The organisation also managed public rallies at 4 places by which the message to "Save Girl and Educate Girl" was delivered to the society. More than 900 men, women and children participated enthusiastically in the events organised by Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan.
Our activist had a conversation with one of the women in the workshop, named Sunita.
Sunita is 24 years old. She got married two year ago, but she was being exploited from just after the marriage by her husband and in-laws. She had to face their violence against her. After tolerating the violence for some days, she decided to go to her parents and she did so. Being unawared of her legal rights, she had to face and tolerate the violence. But, after attending the workshop held by Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan, she came to know abour her legal rights. She told our activist that she had threatened her husband and in-laws to take legal actions if they continue such activities against her. After seeing her confidence and attitude, and the threatening, Sunita's husband and in-laws got scared immediately changed their behaviour. Now, Sunita lives happily without facing any sort of violence. Sunita thanks GlobalGiving Foundation and Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan for the change they have brought to her life.
