Ali*, an 11 year old child attended the Hope Bus program and was adored by the staff and his fellow classmates. The team of social workers noticed that Ali had suddenly stopped attending classes, so the social workers visited his home to understand why he was no longer attending the hope bus. The social workers learned that Ali's father passed away as a result of a heart attack. Ali, as the eldest son in the family, was expectd to take his father's place and provide finanically. He then started working on the streets selling items to try and make a little money to provide for his family however he could. Together the social workers and the legal team were able to work with Ali's mother to make sure the family would be issued a social welfare salary to provide ongoing assistance. With the additional finanaical support, Ali was able to return to the Hope Bus program and continue his studies amongst his friends.
Thank you for making it possible for Ali, and children like him to receive the assistance they need to learn, grow, and thrive. We are so appreciative of your ongoing support of Iraqi children, and we hope that you will be able to join us from wherever you are in the world.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Jamie Ping | Associate Director, Development & Operations
