Dear Friends of Iraqi Children:
Wow! We expected 2020 to be a tough year for our orphans and vulnerable kids in Iraq. COVID interrupted our plans, caused us to experience a drop in corporate philanthropy, and we cut some Iraqi staff salaries by 40%. We steeled ourselves for the toughest year ever. BUT....
Surprise! You came through! Did you know that all of you who gave to our GlobalGiving project for Street Lawyers and Hope Buses resulted in an increase of more than 100% in donations from the year before? Check this out: In 2019, we raised $48,221. In 2020? $100,821! All staff salary cuts were restored and no staff lost their jobs. The children continue to be served with education, legal protection, nutrition, and psychosocial care. And we are launching new initiatives as we move forward in 2021.
Take a glance at our just-released 2020 annual report and enjoy pictures and stories of what your generosity accomplished for some of Iraq's most vulnerable children - orphans, street kids, child laborers. disabled children, and those who have been displaced. It will put a smile on your face!
You will see the pandemic was no match for the generous global community that carries in their hearts the orphans and at-risk children we all love so much.
