Strengthen 60 Women Farmers in El Salvador

It's been a great year and we feel happy about the achievements made by women in rural communities. During last months, implemented actions to keep supporting families with community-based initiatives.

This is a list of the most important achievements:

• About 10 families have been beneficiated with organic inputs to keep working on their vegetable gardens
• 25 farmers have learned about using organic inputs to improve the fertilization of their corn plots. This helped a lot to improve the soil conditions in about 10 hectares and reduced the use of chemicals to produce corn
• 17 farmers have shared native and adapted seeds in two events of Seed Sharing. This is helping to save native seeds and reduce the use of genetically modified seeds
• 3 new chicken coops have been built and equipped with all necessary equipment to grow chickens
• 30 people have learned about improving crops with organic matter
• About 200 people participated in a community market where they learned about how to grow vegetables, medical plants, and fruits with organic farming.

The women who got benefits from the beginning are still producing eggs and selling for a better price in their communities.

There are good experiences about this project. For example, there was a woman in a community maker who said “I am selling vegetables from the seeds another person shared with me; we should keep sharing seeds and doing these type of events”
