Strengthen 60 Women Farmers in El Salvador

It's been good to work with the communities last months. We are progressing because of the support of our friends and the positive participation of women and men during the project. Families are not just getting inputs or materials, they are also learning and sharing knowledge. These are some of the new achievements:

• Learned farming strategies with by doing 2 exchange activities in agroecological plots. In this case, farmers had the opportunity to learn how to adapt crops, fruits, forest trees, and plants to produce food and protect the environment by using only organic inputs and resources available at the plot.
• Improved economy by implementing 2 local markets. Women had the opportunity to sell their products at local level to support local community and promote healthy farming.
• Promoted healthy food. Women have promoted healthy food to reduce diseases by growing their own food.
• Stored of grains. Some families have stored their grains by using storage devices that allow them to maintain at least 500 pounds of corn for their tortillas.
• Seed sharing during events. We do a lot of activities to share seeds, so families have the ability to keep their native crops, plants or fruits. This allows the families to have products adapted to climate change.
• Provided seedling for vegetable gardens. This is a permanent activity we do with this project and others, so we can go to more families.

We are making progress and sharing knowledge with families, so they are preparing for any inconvenient. In the next weeks, we also will be helping with other activities related to clean water, and disaster response.
