Water and Food for Women and their Families

El Salvador is facing issues with the climatic variation. As organization and communities, we are fighting to reduce the effects of that. During the last months, we have achieved the following:

  • Supported 4 new chicken coops. This allowed for families led by women to grow their own hens to provide the necessary proteins. This also helps in sharing or selling eggs in their neighborhood. It is essential to support this project, so other partners are helping.
  • About 10 hectares of criollo corn have been established to support about 20 families. Corn is very important for families because of its nutrients and the supply of tortillas and pupusas, which are the main plates in some communities in the country.
  • 3 new organic vegetable gardens were established. We know it is important to provide inputs to the families for vegetable gardens, but also it is important to train people about how to keep them producing. Our program includes some training so, women are able to maintain gardens to produce good vegetables.
  • With our leadership program, We have been working with leaders to share knowledge about project and community management, so people are ready to lead activities for the self-development of communities.
  • As one of the donors requested. We supported the communities of Puerto Parada with the improvement of a water system. This includes the installation of a new pump and replacing the old pipes. This will benefit about 700 families who do farming and fishing in the Bay of Jiquilisco.

This report includes some of the activities with do as an organization, but also we have been doing more during last two years. We include a two-year report of our organization, so you have an idea of how big is the support from you.

We thank all of you because you are part of our organization and as a part of us, you are helping for the development of women and their families in El Salvador.
