Help St. John Prepare

The core mission of Love City Strong is to serve the island of St. John in areas of disaster preparedness and disaster response, with an emphasis on mitigation and supporting community resilience. Whenever possible we rely on local skills, labor, and resources in order to keep recovery dollars within the territory, and so that we are capable of responding internally to any future impacts. 

Continuous training and development is paramount to maintaining a prepared team, and community. In order to ensure that St. John residents are ready and able to take an active role in both preparedness and response, we work with partnering agencies to offer online and in person courses for our core staff, relevant on-island organizations, and the general public. 

Team Rubicon is a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disasters and crises. Professionals from this organization visit with Love City Strong several times throughout the Atlantic Hurricane Season, conducting mock disaster tabletop exercises, basic medical response, hands on chainsaw safety training, emergency roof tarping, and much more. Access to these critical skills can help alleviate some stress during this often frightening time of year, and helps our community maintain the necessary knowledge and ability to deal with all hazards.
