Help St. John Prepare

On July 13th, Love City Strong hosted our 2nd Annual Prep Fete at Da Event Lounge in Cruz Bay. This event was free to the public and offered food, drinks, music, and valuable information about all things preparedness.

The devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl, and predictions of an active 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season are reminders that we must stay vigilant in our preparedness activities. Each year, Love City Strong evaluates our ongoing programs, especially our prestaged supplies and seasonal support team, and also looks towards the future by seeking out training and development opportunities. We are committed to being as prepared as possible for potential impacts, and the key element is supporting community skills and capacity building.

In order to reach as many people as possible and connect about personal preparedness, we try to deliver information in several different ways. In May, we organize a Prep Fair, where families can engage in preparedness activities while speaking with representatives from the local government, federal agencies, and organizational partners involved with community preparedness and response. The Prep Fete had more of a celebratory feel, with dancing and drinks, and a raffle giveaway.

This is a critical time for the community of St. John to show support for one another while celebrating what makes our island so special. As we work to ensure that St. John is as prepared as possible this hurricane season, this party was a chance for us all to prep together, and fete together!
