Thank you for your generous donation to the Sudan Emergency Fund. Donations to this GlobalGiving fund are making a difference in this crucial period as humanitarian needs in Sudan soar and organizations become able to respond.

This spring, donations to the Sudan Emergency Fund are supporting three grants to high-impact and community-led organizations at the forefront of this conflict.

Here is a short description of some of the critical work you are supporting:

  • Sadagaat-USA  is an organization led by members of the Sudanese diaspora working to secure medications for chronic disease and dialysis needs in many areas in Sudan. They coordinate with other Sudanese organizations, filling critical gaps in urgent medical needs as hospitals and doctors work under life-threatening circumstances and with limited resources.
  • Doroti Organization for Humanitarian Services (DOHS) is supporting displaced people in West Darfur through cash assistance so that families can buy tarpaulins, sleeping mats, blankets, clothes, food, and other essential items. Being from the community and with staff across Darfur, the DOHS team will focus on reaching displaced communities in particular.
  • Internews is providing journalists and other media professionals emergency funding for immediate emergency relocation assistance, living stipends, emergency supplies such as food, water, and medical goods, as well as equipment for connectivity as internet and electricity access dwindles. Internews is working in Chad and South Sudan, where Sudanese refugees are seeking safety. Internews is also offering psychosocial services for those at the front lines, working to ensure access to reliable information for Sudanese amidst this crisis.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Sudan Emergency Fund powers community-led responses, which are vital at this time when international assistance in Sudan has been reduced. Our partners’ and their communities’ needs were dire before and have only grown since the violence started in April 2023. Your donations make a difference. Thank you so much for your support for people affected by this crisis.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
