Dear Friends,
I am very pleased to have this space to share with you what has been going on with us over these past few months.
As you already know, the COVID-19 storm has made us hoist sails, pull ropes and drop anchors more than ever before. However, thanks to the remarkable unity of all our community –thanks to each and every one of you-, we have managed to keep our boat afloat. What´s more, we even feel like Jack Sparrow in one of those great scenes of his.
Here are some results that say way more than I can say:

Basilia / Dylan’s Mom / 3 years old / Oaxaca, Mexico / Retinoblastoma
‘Dylan started to feel bad last year so I took him to the health centre.
After several hospitals and studies I was told that he had two tumours and that his little eyes had to be removed. The first thing I thought when I heard the word 'cancer' was that he was going to die.
I was so scared and frightened! I didn't know what to do, so I stopped taking him to the doctor for over 6 months. In January he got very bad and we had to go back. Now, he had to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a transplant. But, the doctors told me that they were going to do everything they could to get him through this and I have a lot of faith.
The most difficult part of this process was when he had his little eyes surgery because he got scared and was in a lot of pain.
We came to Casa de la Amistad where they are very supportiveas we don't have the resources to pay for such expensive treatment.
Thank you very much!’
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our crew.
Warm wishes,
Duana Polo
P.D. From September 13 to 17, we will participate in the GlobalGiving ‘Little by Little Campaign’; a five-day crowdfunding event in which all donations up to $50 USD will be matched by 50%. We would be immensely grateful, honoured and excited if you should decide to join us again and encourage your friends and family to do so as well!
