Dear friend of the Patronato Foundation.
We want to share today the story of Sara, one of the girls who receives support from our Foundation.
Sara is 8 years old and lives with her parents, siblings, cousins, uncles and grandparents in Medellín, Colombia. She was diagnosed with Down syndrome, which is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome in pair 21. This diagnosis affects brain and body development, it is also the main cause of intellectual disability, and is usually associated with problems such as digestive and immune system disorders, heart disease, hearing and vision difficulties, among others.
Your donation helps to keep our rehabilitation program running. Sara has been part of this program for two years. In the program, she has received physical and occupational therapy, specialized consultations in cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, exams, and medications that help her improve her health, independence, and functionality in day-to-day activities.
The support she receives in health also contributes to Sara's mental health and emotional balance. She is characterized by being a very happy girl who likes to sing, paint and build objects with legos.
Thanks to your generosity, Sara and more children like her will be able to continue being part of the program for the rest of the year. ¡Thank you so much!
Best regards.
