During the last two months of the project “Support 12 kids with hearing loss in Medellin” the beneficiaries have achieved several accomplishments in the development of oral, listening and literacy skills; these have given them the possibility to be in touch with an entire different sensations unknown for them until now. The most significant oral achievement is that for the first time during the school year they are communicating with their classmates and teachers. Hamilton’s vocabulary has increased and stands by their expressions of friendship "good morning" "good afternoon" and "thank you".
Regarding the hearing progress, we highlight the case of Samuel, who thanks to cochlear implant therapies, not only his voice tonality is increasing, but his language is more comprehensible and its grammatical structure is reaching the characteristics of a hearing child.
Advances in the literacy process have favored school inclusion in the academic process of the 12 kids, as in the case of Javier, who has been recognized on the honor school society. In the same way, Mariana feels more confident and involved in school events such as public speaking and reading aloud to the entire educational community.
