Dear Donors and supporters,
May this report finds you well,
The Covid 19 pandemic has changed all aspect of our life, and YKIP programs and its beneficiaries is not an exception. YKIP takes necessary steps in preventing the spread of the disease right after the government of the Republic of Indonesia announce the existing case in Indonesia. YKIP staff started to work from home since the third week of March and do all monitoring to the children in the program remotely and with help of our local partners is the area. With heavy heart, YKIP also had to postpone the fourth quarter distribution of 2019-2020 academic year due to the pandemic situation.
YKIP supported students are study at home started from the second week of March 2020, following the order of the government. They need to study online, and most of them find that online study is rather challenging. Some of them do not have sufficient tools to do the online study, while other students are struggling to have the internet package in the middle of decreasing income of their parents.
We then try our best to assist all the children and families in all YKIP programs by conducting the 4th quarter distribution on May. Although the students are study at home, we still distribute the fund that intended to be the pocket money for the students, but now it is reallocated to buy the internet package, so they can buy more internet package to study online. This is will also ease the parent, so they can support their children study online without worrying that they should allocate their money to buy internet package.
The distribution was started on May 14 and ended on June 3, 2020. We took longer time to distribute the donation because we would apply the preventive method to make sure that all people involved in the event are safe. Unlike previous donation distribution events, we did not make a gathering. The student or parent need to come to the venue in designated time. We also required all people who came to the distribution to wash their hands, using face mask, and keep safe distance from other people. We also disinfected the area before and after the event. In the area where we have many students, we divided the distribution into several days, to make sure all people are obeying the preventive measure.
Another additional support we gave to the students and family in the program is food package support. Thanks to our donors who support us in this initiative to support the families further. We distribute food package that consists of rice, eggs, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodle, and biscuits for the students’ family. The distribution of this food package was conducted in the same time with the 4th quarter donation distribution of academic year 2019-2020. Not only we distribute the food package to our students in KEMBALI, but also to the families in our other programs such as KIDS, Vocational, and University Programs. We hope that this initiative will help the family during this uncertain time.
We are grateful that we have such generous donors like you so that we can continue to support the sponsored students in our programs during this challenging time. Thank you for your kind support to Balinese girls to finish their high school.
Stay safe and healthy,
Sending you all the best wishes from Bali,
YKIP Team
