These first months of the year we continued with our wellness activities for patients and caregivers. Educational aid kits were delivered to patients to ensure the continuity of their learning process and to make the most of their free time during hospitalization and recovery at home.
One of the projects is TheTraveling Suitcase: a suitcase full of books and reading incentives to promote reading habits in the hospital setting, such as Paco the Therapeutic Story to accompany the start of treatment.
Birthday celebrations were held, bringing together mothers, patients, and caregivers to celebrate life together. Each gathering brought together approximately 30 people, including beneficiaries, volunteers, and foundation staff. These celebrations took place in an atmosphere of appreciation and well-being, honoring life and strengthening the sense of community. This space also served to raise awareness among caregivers about the importance of self-care and emotional well-being.
As part of the project's recreational activities, trips to Maloka and Mundo Aventura (Children Enterainment Centres) were organized, thanks to the support of partner companies. These trips allowed families to enjoy leisure time and recreation. These activities highlighted the importance of the family unit within the patient's healthcare process, strengthening family bonds and creating meaningful experiences outside the institutional setting.
Additionally, closer contact was established with caregivers through home visits, which allowed for the identification of physical conditions in the home that may facilitate or hinder the daily participation of children and adolescents, such as lighting, space distribution, accessibility, and availability of school supplies. Family dynamics that directly influence the organization of routines and opportunities for autonomy and participation were also observed. This information was useful for guiding specific recommendations, proposing adjustments to the environment, and a better understanding of each family's reality, strengthening the relevance of the
suggestions made from Occupational Therapy in the home context.
We also held an Entrepreneur Project wihch had the active participation of mothers and caregivers, who presented a variety of products and well-developed proposals.
We supported those who needed guidance to organize the presentation of their products to participate for the first time in a fair, thus facilitating the marketing of their initiatives.
It was evident that entrepreneurial ventures can become a source of economic support for families, especially when work dynamics are modified due to the children's treatment.
And among other activities on February 10th we held a blood donation campaign that was very successful. Thirty people donated blood that was delivered to the Instituto Cancerológico in Bogotá.
