Dear Friends,
We are so happy to share with you pictures from Nursing school graduations for medical scholars we all support! Several graduated this past June and more students are being added to complete their studies with new scholarships and needed expenses for the 24-25 school year.
After the Nursing students graduated from college, they experienced the joy of the Florence Nightengale Pinning Ceremony which signifies their joining the profession. "We owe so much to Professor Santoli, Asia America Initiative and their caring donors in the United States and all parts of the world." says 21 year old new Nurse Fahma from Sulu State College in Jolo. "The AAI team instills in us the faith, hope and confidence that we can rise above our fears and be productive members of our communities."
The nursing students we assist are especially important as they come from impoverished communities where most residents live well below the poverty line. In the islands of Sulu province, 19 districts and 125 Islands are subdivided into 410 barangays [villages] serving a population of close to 1 million people. There are fewer than 16 medical doctors. Nurses here are the framework of public health.
This summer and fall seasons are intense for our hard working young professional medical service providers! 15 nursing graduates from Sulu State College are about to take part in the nationwide license exams in Davao City. AAI gives nutritional support to sustain their positive energy. We encourage the students to be in good standing so they will be able to sit for the exams and have confidence for success.
We support female nursing students with their basic educational needs, classroom materials, graduation fees, and the cost of licensing exams. These young women demonstrate the potential for success of Muslim women around the world. As health care providers, the nurses are providing vital services to all community members and expanding the employment base in one of the most economically deprived areas of the world.
If you would like to add to your donation and make a difference to nursing students for the 2024 Fall Semester, please click through the project report. With your help, we can continue to support young women to become nurses who are vital for a community's survival.
