We are happy to share graduation photos from Mindanao State University- Nursing College of the medical scholars we all support!
The nursing students we assist are especially important as they come from impoverished communities where most residents live well below the poverty line. In the islands of Sulu province, 19 districts and 125 Islands are subdivided into 410 barangays [villages], serving a population of nearly 1 million people. There are fewer than 16 medical doctors.
Nurses here are the framework of public health.
We support female nursing students with their basic educational needs, classroom materials, graduation fees, and licensing exam fees. These young women demonstrate the potential for success of Muslim women around the world. As health care providers, nurses provide vital services to all community members and expand the employment base in one of the world's most economically deprived areas.
In addition to scholarships, AAI supports the Nursing College's programs designed for public health outreach to help others in nearby barangays. We provide hygiene supplies and other materials for these health events.
This semester's graduation is a big success, and we are proud to be a part of this school's turnaround into an important institution for higher learning. Dr. Anissa, who is also an RN, has been a major academic influence on the students and represents excellence in leadership.
Dr. Anissa quote:... "Thank you so much," said Dr. Annisa. "We're done with a series of medical missions." It went amazingly perfect, we bought toothpaste, antibacterial soaps, and snacks for all participants.
