Project Report | Jul 2, 2014
To our wonderful "God's Love Home" supporters

Every child deserves the best possible chance of success – and they can't do it alone. They need a lot of helping hands along the way; yours and ours together.

God’s Love Home and School purpose is to help vulnerable children from Kibwa Zone (a district of Kampala) pursue their God-given potential. Together we are working to “Support and Educate 40 orphans”. With your support we are feeding them a better diet, educating them at God’s Love School (Nursery, P1 and P 2) and in other schools (for P3 – P6) which we don’t have at GLS.

Our plans

We are keen to expand the school. We make sure that the children on retro-virals take them regularly (some of our HIV children are not well giving rise to unplanned medical expenses) and we support guardians. Through the help channelled from Global giving we can now afford to improve the children's diet (the meals now include eggs), and kwashiorkor is now a thing of the past.

Visitors- we've thrilled you've come to see us

We have had a range of visitors from dear friends and people who are eager to find out more about our great work. Our dear friend Mark Shaw-Hamilton came in February and helped us with our accounts and gave some teaching materials. Mr Wilson and his wife Sarah (based in the USA) and in April, Rhys and Rhonda visited us on their way to S Sudan on the recommendation of an Australian friend.

In June, GlobalGiving UK project evaluators visited us. It was a lovely visit from Ludiya and Basil meeting us and sharing with God’s Love Home staff.  They are yet to give their observations and help improve our internal processes, and they have already helped strengthen our PTA.

The money received through Global Giving and directly via Mark has made a real difference and given some security for 2014. GlobalGiving UK have disbursed the money in regular amounts and we should have sufficient resources for 4 more months. Help us go further than that. Every donation, however small it seems, means so much.
