In 2024, Burma Humanitarian supported Backpack Medics operating in isolated regions of Burma where the Burma Army continues to wage an aggressive campaign against the country’s ethnic minorities.
Specific objectives included
• Support 50 teams
• Support training 20 new medics
• Support Vitamin A supplements for 40,000 children
• Support Medics with food
• Support 50+ Medic children to attend school in Mae Sot
• Provide Nutritional Support for Pregnant Women
Throughout 2024, the brutal impact of the Burma army’s repression and attacks on the ethnic minorities and civil disobedience movement continued unabated.
Prior to the Burma army’s coup in February 2021, the UNHCR estimated 328,000 internally displaced persons in Burma. As of May 2024, UNHCR estimates there are 3.1 million internally displaced persons – all due to the Burma army’s violence.
