Support a child's education in Peruvian Amazon

By Karin Ninburg | project coordinator

Welcome to the April edition of our newsletter! These past months have been a whirlwind of inspiring activities and achievements, and we're thrilled to share these incredible moments with you.

Our educational program for children, Casa Ainbo, guided by local and international volunteers, managed to provide adequate education in remote communities, impacting more than 60 children aged 7-15 and 30 women in Iquitos, Peru.

Our volunteers and teachers conducted classes in mathematics, English, Spanish and science. Our aim is to reinforce, prepare, and open their minds to new knowledge and experiences.

In addition to these classes, workshops are provided to develop their creativity and talents in art, sports, and music. We had the pleasure of hosting 21 volunteers, and each one of them has brought his/her magic and special presence to Casa Ainbo. With their commitment and dedication, our teachers and volunteers are transforming lives, promoting education and creating hope for a better future in the community.

Read through all the amazing events and workshops we have had for our community and kids and share them with your family and friends.

None of this would have been possible without your unwavering support, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.

1. Our new ecological project- Guardians of Itaya River.  The purpose is to cultivate environmental education by creating engaging and transformative programs for our kids and community. By building an ecological brigade with the kids, nursing a vegetable garden and integrating environmental topics into our science and art classes, we aim to educate the future generation to protect and care for their environment.

2. We started our computer classes and the kids love it!

So far we have 6 kids that attending regularly the classes and our goal is to get more computers so more kids will be able to participate.

3. The children took assessment tests in January and March and we are happy to announce that the children got better grades in English, Maths and Language in the March tests compared to the January tests.

One of our ways to measure our impact is to see the children's understanding and progress in these areas. In addition, we have evaluation questionnaires for volunteers, monthly meetings to set goals and individual conversations with the teachers and staff.

Some of the events we had these past months:

1. International Art Competition:

We are participating in an international painting contest! For the second year, we have been invited by the Embassy of the Czech Republic to participate in a painting contest. The paintings were sent to Europe and there will be children from all over the world participating, wish us luck!

Creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression; through these activities, we're helping individuals find their unique voice.

2. In March the kids started their new school year and were lucky to get a brand new Back-to-school kit that included a school bag, stationery, notebooks and more. This project would not be possible without the support and help of our wonderful community.

See attached a presentation with photos, a video and a testimony of the kids:

We continue to spread our work, bring more inspiration and reach more people and communities in Iquitos.

A testimony of one of our beneficiaries:

“At Casa Ainbo, I feel happy because I met my teachers and friends. I have learned mathematics and I am learning English. I want to stay here to continue learning every day. Today I feel happy being with them, having fun, and continuing to learn.

Each of these activities represents a crucial piece of the puzzle that makes our mission possible. Your commitment to our cause has a profound and lasting impact on the lives we touch, and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Stay tuned for more events, workshops, and community empowerment in our next newsletter. Together, we're creating a brighter, more inclusive world.
