War in the Holy Land

By Yehuda Stolov | Executive Director

The Holy Land and it’s people have been plunged into a tragic war. Affecting the lives of millions of people, of all faiths and backgrounds. We are currently standing at a period of intense conflict and loss.

The Interfaith Encounter Association was founded during the early stages of the Second Intifada in 2001, and has, so far in its 22 years of work, seen many periods of devastating local and regional conflict. Despite, and in light of conflict, our work has seen growth in participation and presence, year on year without fail. We have engaged tens of thousands of people and opened, now over 120 encounter groups across the Holy Land.

Since this war began, we have received innumerable messages from our associations’ friends, participants and members offering encouraging and hopeful messages for our continuing work, in spite of, and because of the war and its effects. The Interfaith Encounter Association will endeavor to work ceaselessly to promote and provide opportunities for person to person dialogue between people of all faiths in the Holy Land and work to contribute to peace in the hearts of individuals and as such in society at large.

Because of the unfolding war, there are undoubtedly significant challenges and obstacles to achieving interfaith encounters and dialogue. But we know, that beyond maintaining the encounters we can with the vast majority of our groups, by using this time to prepare for 'the day after', and with the thoughts, prayers, assistance and support from the friends, members and participants of The Interfaith Encounter Association - not only can we continue to march forward in our endeavors, but may well also find that we are able to offer invaluable contributions towards the attainment of peace at an individual, community and regional level.

We want to thank all of our friends, members, participants, staff and volunteers who have always been the driving force behind our continuing success.

Today, more than ever, we would like to renew our zeal towards finding a path to peace and kindred familiarity between the people of this beautiful and Holy Land.
