A group of Jewish, Muslim and Christian volunteers got together to prepare food packages to be distributed to families from different communities across Jerusalem, in honor of Ramadan, Purim and Lent.
The packages included basic cooking needs, but also a few treats. Making sure that everyone has their basic needs fulfilled and no one goes hungry is a core value of both Ramadan (with the commandment of Zakat) and Purim (with the commandment of Matanot Laevionim), as well as the Lent period.
Interfaith Encounter is about not just talking about the values we have in common, but putting them to practice. We thank Felm Center and Social Workers for Peace for planning this social action day with us. We hope to continue our joint work in a new project "The Good We Share."
