An Update from Esperanza Urbana

Israel and David

Good day,

We would like to share a touching story with you. The man’s name in the picture above with me is Israel.  I met him a few weeks ago in the streets of downtown San Jose, homeless, desperate, and most importantly, undocumented.  After being turned away at the Mexican border and having no other options, Israel is trying to find his way back to Venezuela to his home and family. Esperanza Urbana with the support of sponsors such as Tracopar who donated a bus ticket, help him along his journey.  We have recently received word that he made it back to his family in Venezuela, is safe and doing well. We are happy to have been able to support him in such a significant way and we thank you for making it possible through your generous donations.

As you know we could not fulfill our mission of helping men like Israel without the help of our generous sponsors.  And to celebrate the efforts of the men in the program, one of our newest sponsors, the English Christian Fellowship, has generously donated food and volunteers and put together a barbeque event for close to 40 men at the center. As you can see in the photos, everyone had a lot of fun, food was great, and spirits were high.  We are extremely grateful for everyone ‘s participation at ECF and their generosity.

Esperanza Urbana’s team of volunteers is growing strong and new people are joining us on our outreach program every week.  Last week, a group of 10 employees from Cummins came out to our community kitchen to help our home team to prepare the food required for our evening outreach. Thanks to their help we were able to prepare more food and bags of clothes to help the homeless in San José.

We always welcome new volunteers and corporate sponsors so if you would like to get involved, please reach out to me at info.esperanza.urbana@gmail.com  or +506 8342 2929.

David
