Apne Aap Women Worldwide (AAWW) has supported Varsha, a bright girl from the Perna community in Perna Basti Dharampura, Delhi, since primary school. Her father has passed, leaving behind Varsha, her mother Hoorbai (a prostituted woman) and her two sisters. Her hobbies include traveling and watching movies and web series. She completed her 12th year of education from Shanti Gyan International School with exceptional marks and admittance to Delhi University. She takes a graphic design course from TGC Institute and has completed her first year of university with honors in Political Science. Her education, room, and board is sponsored by AAWW.

Varsha is one of the 592,810 that has continued to receive support through the 1 Million Meals program since the start of COVID-19. Through your support, we continue to provide the vital lifelines of food and education to vulnerable women and girls. COVID-19 brought catastrophic consequences, particularly devastating towards those living in extreme poverty in India's red-light areas. Through our #1MillionMeals project, the lives of over half a million women and children have remained intact.

As of July 2023, this year alone, we have distributed 99,200 meals to 2,502 women and children in Bihar, Delhi, and West Bengal. This takes the total number of meals distributed through our Covid #1MillionMeals food drive to 13.96 Million Meals for 462,548 women and children! Additionally, this year we have distributed 1,850 sanitary pads to girls, for a total distribution of 312,156.

Since January 2023, our support has provided 399 girls, ranging from preschool to college-aged, with accessible education, totalling our outreach to 3,367 girls since the start of this project. We continue our sewing classes in Kolkata and Bihar, and in these six months, 71 girls have gone on to start their own businesses or join a tailoring shop. Our latest business initiative is a food truck in Delhi run by a cooperative of 11 women.
