Dear Friends and Supporters of Imani House,
With the start of spring, parents are already applying for a free space at CAMP IMANI! Summertime is for children to have fun, make friends and explore, yet many families served by Imani House are unable to afford costly camp fees. Children are instead left to play in the streets or remain indoors with the TV while their peers benefit from exciting summer programs.
Every child deserves the fun and safe summer camp experience provided by CAMP IMANI. We have seen marked improvements in the behavioral and social development of the children in our programs. Thanks to your support, CAMP IMANI continues to offer a full 5-day a week, 6-week long day camp for children in Kindergarten to 5th grade at PS282 in Brooklyn.
Everyday at CAMP IMANI, children engage in performing arts, explore their city and bond with friends. Our Camp provides opportunities for students to express themselves through spoken word, African dance and drumming, steel pan, archery, arts & crafts, and develop their skills in literacy, science, and team building. This year, we will also provide math tutoring for children who have not passed the state mathematics test. Exciting and educational field trips are planned for the American Museum of Natural History, Bronx Zoo, Liberty Science Center, Coney Island, and Sesame Place.
Through your continued giving, 120 deserving children can access these amazing and enriching opportunities AT NO COST to their hard-working families.
Please also join us for our annual Walk-to-Live event on June 2nd, a walkathon dedicated to raising awareness of childhood obesity and equipping families with skills to lead a healthy lifestyle.
With summer quickly approaching, we hope you keep Imani House in mind in your giving. Together we can make a difference in these children’s lives.
Warm wishes,
Bisi Ideraabdullah, Executive Director
